What to take on your boat trip – Be Charter Ibiza Packing Essentials

The summer season in Ibiza is well underway. One of the best ways to make the most of your holiday is discovering the islands of Ibiza and Formentera is with a private boat charter with Be Charter Ibiza. But what do you need to take on your boat trip? Here are our packing essentials so you have everything you need.

What to take …..

  • Swimwear – take 2. It’s always nice to change into something dry when you’re having lunch
  • High protection sunscreen and lip-balm. When you’re out on a boat with that wonderful breeze it’s easy to forget how strong the sun really is, and chapped lips are no fun either.  Your lip-balm can double up as lipstick at lunch.
  • A sarong, lightweight dress or t-shirt. Great to wear at lunch and perfect if you do get too much sun to cover-up sore skin should you need
  • Hat or cap
  • Sunglasses
  • Hairbrush and hair-tie. This one is more for the ladies but those windblown, tangled knots can be irritating by the end of the day!
  • Flip-flops or sandals – you won’t need anything else for your feet – but the sand can get super hot and you’ll be grateful for something to protect those feet
  • If you’re the type of person who get’s “peckish” after a swim – take a small snack.  We provide a selection of refreshments but not any food – sorry!
  • A small extra beach bag for your wallet, phone and sunscreen when you leave the boat.  Our skipper will stay on the boat the whole time you are having lunch so your belongings will always be safe

What Be Charter Ibiza provides …..

  • On all of our boats we provide towels, snorkelling equipment, a paddle board and refreshments – and of course, a friendly and helpful skipper to make sure you have the best day with Be Charter Ibiza.

If you require any further information feel free to contact us at any time https://www.becharteribiza.com

Have a great day!

Where to eat great lobster in Ibiza – Be Charter Ibiza Top 5

When it comes to splashing out on Lobster you owe it to yourself to be picky.  Follow this guide to find out where we think the top 5 places are to eat lobster in Ibiza whether you want a whole one all to yourself or a decadent lobster paella or caldereta.  It is, without doubt the Queen of Ibizan seafood and is appropriately coveted in the markets and restaurants all over the island.

La Escollera

Sitting on the terrace with the sand between your toes, looking out at the crystal clear sea ahead of you is about as good as life gets.  If you still feel life needs improving then order the Paella de Bogavante at La Escollera on Es Cavallet beach.  This particular paella has been wowing locals and those “in the know” for over 20 years – thanks to Yaya’s (Catalan for Granny) imparted secrets and knowledge.

Plump saffron-infused rice is studded with the finest mussels and the juiciest, most luscious lobster, prawns and crayfish. Consquently these perfectly balanced flavours crafted from top-quality local ingredients create a unique and totally pleasurable dish that is a true delight to the senses.

www.laescolleraibiza.com

Guarana

Located inside the beautiful Ses Salines Natural Park, Guarana restaurant offers a pleasant day surrounded by nature at the top end of Las Salinas beach.  Offering a varied selection of delicious Mediterranean dishes you might be surprised to see Bogavante Frito on the menu … served with a “broken” egg and potatoes. It’s certainly not the most obvious way to serve lobster but be rest assured it is delicious non-the-less. And if the idea of eating lobster with “egg and chips” doesn’t sit so well you can still enjoy it in a magnificent paella.

www.guarana-salinas.com

Es Torrent

You’ll find it hard to beat a better selection of fresh fish dishes anywhere else on Ibiza island and the lobster at EsTorrents is no exception.  At Es Torrent no other crustacean is more highly valued than the red Palinurus Elephas lobster that breeds along the Ibizan coast.  Es Torrent prepare their lobsters in different ways to ensure that the succulent flesh and unique flavours are enjoyed at their best. Stewed, flambéed, grilled or sautéed with garlic and chilli.  However you would like it prepared you can guarantee it will be exquisite.

Ibizan lobsters have a very specific flavour and texture due to their specific habitat and has earnt them the title “Sabors d’Eivissa” which differentiates them from other lobsters caught elsewhere in the Mediterranean.  It is an exquisite taste and should be savoured at least once in a lifetime.  And in this seemingly private hideaway between the bays of Porroig and Sa Caixota could there be a better place …

www.estorrent.net

Es Calo

Es Calo offers a magical setting where breathtakingly clear sea and rocks meet to form a small cove; where the water dazzles with a myriad of different colours as it reflects the light and minerals in the rocks.

At Es Calo gastronomy and nature meet for a truly memorable dining experience. The natural flavours of fresh shellfish, freshly caught fish and the best cuts of meat are combined with locally grown vegetables for a menu that cannot fail to impress and their mouth-watering Arroz de Bogavante is no exception. This combined with one of the most stunning views on Formentera will guarantee a dining experience you won’t forget in a hurry.

www.restauranteescalo.com

Can Rafalet

In another fabulous location in Es Calo, Can Rafalet delivers the best of Ibizan food – fish, shell fish, rice dishes and meat are all served with views of La Mola, Formentera and Ibiza ahead of you. At Can Rafalet you can sample either local or Canadian lobster cooked in a variety of ways – as a paella, as a casserole or whole.

Their “spiny lobster casserole” has a reputation all of its own!  To avoid disappointment please remember that apart from the paellas all the other lobster dishes MUST be ordered 24 hours ahead.   Can Rafalet – delivering top quality food year after year.

www.canrafalet.es

Be Charter Ibiza Top Tip:  Wherever you choose to eat your lobster, if you select a whole one most restaurants will charge by weight.  When you are presented with your lobster (and before the restaurant cooks it) make sure your waiter confirms the weight for you so there are no ugly surprises when your bill arrives.

Es Vedra Magic Ibiza: Be Charter Ibiza Top Motor Yacht Route

Where to go if Magic, Mystery and Myths intrigue you?  Ibiza is waiting for you.   One of Be Charter Ibiza’s most popular Motor Yacht Routes is a trip to experience the wonder and magic of Es Vedra. Come and discover Es Vedra and Atlantis for yourself – Yacht Routes Es Vedra.

History

Es Vedra is a mysterious and beautiful limestone rock.  Almost 400 metres in height it is located off the Southwest coast of Ibiza.  Many consider it to have positive healing powers and inspire creative energy.

The early Phoenicians (654BC) believed Ibiza to be a magic isle. That is was blessed by the Gods because of its rich, red non volcanic soil and there was no obvious sign of threatening creatures or poisonous plants.  Even today some people wear amulets and pendants containing this sacred Ibizan soil to protect them from harm.

The Carmelite priest Don Francisco Palau meticulously recorded mystical revelations.  He reported meetings with ‘unearthly beings surrounded by light’ while meditating on Es Vedra.  People will tell you that gigantic circles of light have been seen – up to 50 metres in diameter – emerging from the sea …

Nostradamus & Magnetism

Nostradamus even put Ibiza on the map in the 15th century predicting that Ibiza will be Earth’s final refuge.”  It has often been claimed as the 3rd most magnetic place on earth. This has not been proven but there’s no denying that something about the island seems to send compasses awry.  Homing pigeons have often been known to get lost near the island….

Whatever you believe in it is impossible not to be lured by Es Vedra’s magic.

Come and discover it with Be Charter Ibiza –  Yacht Routes Es Vedra.

Atlantis

Officially known as Sa Pedrera de Cala d’Hort this is a centuries old quarry just round the corner from Es Vedra.  The rock from here was used to build watch towers, homes and part of the Dalt Vila (Ibiza Town) walls in the 16th century.  Legends also report the stone being used by the Egyptians to build the pyramids.  Today what awaits you is a labyrinth of fascinating and unusual rock formations, caves and sea pools.

If it’s a calm day your Be Charter Ibiza motor yacht will come close to shore and you can swim to Atlantis and discover this extraordinary place yourself.

Check out our Es Vedra Yacht Route page for more ideas or contact Be Charter Ibiza directly for a personalised itinerary.

Best Beaches Ibiza:

Formentera Beaches Votes Best in Europe

“Endless sea, fine sand, spectacular views, yachts, fancy stalls, Ibiza on the horizon.” Trip Advisor 2016

Last year Trip Advisor named Playa Illetes beach on Formentera the No 1 BEST BEACH in Europe.

It was also voted 7 in the ranking of top 25 BEST BEACHES IN THE WORLD!

Playa Ses Illetes
Playa Ses Illetes is one of the first beaches you arrive to when you come to Formentera from Ibiza by boat. With its long narrow strip of beautiful white sand stretching far into the distance and the crystal clear, warm waters you might think you were in the Caribbean. It’s shallow too – making it a perfect spot for families.

Espalmador
Before you arrive at Playa Ses Illetes you can’t avoid arriving at Espalmador and / or Sa Torreta both which can only be accessed by boat.  The only other way is to walk across the sandbank from Ses Illetes. It is impossible not to be mesmerised by the beauty that’s greets you; and because it’s a nature reserve there are no Beach Bars here.  Just white sand, turquoise waters, nature and tranquility.

Cala Saona
Cala Saona is worth that little extra time to get to and has lots to offer everyone. Apart from the beautiful beach, the underwater caves here and at Punta Rasa are a “must do” activity for those looking for something a bit more adventurous.

Look at our Ibiza – Ses Illetes Yacht Guide to give you inspiration – https://becharteribiza.com/locations/ses-illetes/

Ibizan Icons

Sandy beaches, hidden coves – Ibiza has it all.

Ses Salines
Named after the salt lakes found in the south of Ibiza, Ses Salines is a mile-long crescent of sand.  Found on the southern most tip of the island it is bordered by a small pine forest, sand dunes and a nature reserve. It’s seemingly endless expanse of soft white sand, is lapped by gorgeous crystal clear water which on slightly windier days can even provide some good body surfing waves. Due to the high salt content in the water here you get to stay afloat for longer too!

This beach is host to an amazing selection of beach restaurants.  Sa Trinxa, Malibu, The Jockey Club and Guarana to name the main ones on the beach all serving fabulous food and cocktails. Las Salinas is a great place to relax and people watch – there’s ALWAYS something going on!

Check out our Ibiza yacht route Cap des Falco Es Vedra

Sa Caleta
This is one of our undisputed favourite places to go in Ibiza. This stunning cove is backed by dramatic red cliffs and sand to match. Many people come here and mix “their own mud” (by scraping the red clay off the cliffs and mixing it with water) because they believe it has therapeutic benefits and will soften your skin. Whatever your view the aquamarine water that laps at the shoreline is the perfect place to wash it off. For others it’s just a heavenly family beach with shallow waters and great snorkelling opportunities. It’s a special place.

Brilliant Snorkelling in Ibiza – Top 5 Locations With Be Charter

Snorkelling – that wonderful moment when you put your face in the water and discover a magical and mysterious underwater world beneath you. The waters around Ibiza and Formentera are beautifully warm and crystal clear.   Ibiza and Formentera are brilliant places to enjoy the fun of snorkelling.

Our top 5 locations are:

Es Calo – Cala Saona – Punta Rasa – Cap des Falco – Sa Caleta

FORMENTERA

Formentera is one of the best places to snorkel in the Baleariacs because it has a number of natural advantages.   Namely there is no plankton in the water which consequently means it remains crystal clear.  Another noteworthy factor is  the island’s shape protecting it’s beaches when the wind blows from the north!

Es Calo
This is a great area for snorkelling and diving. The water here is clean and clear and provides the perfect setting for all sorts of water activities. Due to minerals in the rocks, the water here is an incredible deep blue.  Absolutely stunning.

Cala Saona
This beautiful bay, on the western side of the island of Formentera has calm, shallow turquoise waters and is a perfect location for “snorkellers” of all ages. Enjoy swimming with some bread and watch the fish “jump” to attention as you feed them.

Punta Rasa
The caves at Punta Rasa, just round the corner from Cala Saona are very special. They are definitely for the more adventurous “snorkeller” but if you’re up for it you won’t be disappointed. With natural light shining through these caves the water below is so clear and bright you might think you’ve somehow discovered Atlantis. Imagine a swimming pool lit up at night. The caves have lots of chambers that provide strategic “breathing” stops in-between dives so you can fully enjoy their natural beauty. Your Be Charter Ibiza skipper will guide you through.

IBIZA

The warm waters that surround Ibiza attract a myriad of different marine life.  Anything from octopus, seahorses, starfish and dolphins can be spotted in this Mediterranean haven.

Cap des Falco / Es Codolar
The beach at Cap des Falco is long and because it’s stony it doesn’t receive many human visitors meaning the waters remain calm and are a haven for marine life. The water here is also extra salty due to the beaches proximity to the salt plains giving you extra buoyancy whilst you investigate the world beneath you.  At the beginning of the beach there are various small coves which are ideal for swimming. Mornings tend to be spectacular, and sometimes on very calm days, dolphins can be seen a hundred yards from the beach, making it totally idyllic.

Sa Caleta
Sa Caleta is backed by dramatic red cliffs and is horse-shoe shaped creating a wonderful feeling of seclusion. The sandy beach is very shallow with clear water making it an ideal snorkeling location for families and on both sides of the beach there are a series of wonderful rock pools which are ideal for investigating with our younger crew members!

Enjoy snorkelling in any number of fabulous locations when you hire a boat for the day with Be Charter Ibiza. For further information visit our website www.becharteribiza.com or contact us directly at info@becharteribiza.com.
